Home Study

I got the draft copy of our homestudy by email today! Wooohooo! One correction (the year of our car wrong) and then we get the agency directors signature and it's off to the adoption agency. I can't believe it. I can't believe that it's actually happening. It still doesn't seem real. Of course it won't seem real until we get the PA from China, but at least we are half way there. This poster from despair.com pretty much describes how I'm feeling right now.

Fingerprints again

Well another fingerprint post, but this time I can say that THEY HAVE CLEARED. I'm not suprised or anything like that, but it only took 2 1/2 weeks and that's what we were waiting on. Now all we need is the homestudy to get finished and signed. I know that our wonderful social worker is working on it and it should be soon! WoooHoooo. We are so much closer it is hard to believe.

Fingerprints

All we need are the fingerprints. That's it. We had our homestudy visit today. It was great. Our social worker is great. She is so much nicer than the other agency social worker's. She was very laid back and interacted with Maddie and Brandon so well. I asked her if it was going to take a month like our last agency and she said that it was the industry standard for a month, but she's pretty quick. She said she could have it done in a couple of days and then send it on to the director for approval. Let's hope it can get done quickly.

Mythbusters

Okay I know that this is a little off topic, but I LOVE Mythbusters! It comes on every Wednesday at 8pm and 9pm on the Discovery Channel. It is the coolest show. Right now I'm watching it and they are doing the one about if bacteria from the toilet gets on your toothbrush. I don't really think I want to know. If you get the opportunity to watch the show, definitely do. You'll be hooked.

Nothing much going on

Well nothing much is happening right now. All of our homestudy paperwork is complete. We have our visit next Sunday, 5/21. Our SW said it could take 2-4 weeks to complete, but she said she was pretty quick. I did explain the situation about needing our homestudy to put the little girl we want on hold, so we will see how quickly it goes. Say your prayers that she can do it quick.

A little nervous

Okay, I admit it. I'm a little nervous. We need to get our homestudy done (I'm not nervous about that) before we can put the little girl on hold. I'm nervous that we won't get it done in time and that another family who is farther along will come and snatch her up. I have such a strong pull to her. I feel that she is our daughter and Maddie and Brandon's sister. She just belongs in our family. so if you are the praying type, please say a prayer for us.

How we're doing

Our agency received our fingerprint cards on 5/3 and mailed them to the GBI on that day!!! Woohoo. Hopefully by the time she comes on 5/21 our fingerprints will have cleared. I have all of the paperwork needed for the homestudy and almost all for the dossier. All I need for the dossier is our marriage certificate, police clearances and AJ's employment letter. Oh yeah and we need our homestudy and I-171H. I can't believe it's going that quickly. Hopefully we should be able to be DTC by June.

Fingerprinted

Well today we were fingerprinted for our homestudy. It got me thinking, how many times have I been fingerprinted? 3 times for the Navy, twice for my job now and so far 3 times for adoption. We will have one more time for the adoption when we get fingerprinted by the INS. That means I have been fingerprinted 8 times so far. The government should have a good grasp about what my fingerprints look like.

I love Vital Check

I love Vital Check!!!!!!!! Last time it took forever and a call to my State Representative to get our birth certificates (and they were the wrong ones and I had to go back). This time I used Vital Check and it was worth the $30 ($10 each and $12.50 mailing although I don't really know why it was 12.50 for mailing I live right here) and we received them in today! I can't believe how quick it was. Even Vital Check said we wouldn't receive them until after 5/9, but hey who's complaining. I love how a plan comes together. Here's their website www.vitalcheck.com.
